there is simply no conclusive evidence as to whether the law has helped reduce forced trafficking in the sex trade in the countries where it's been implemented

... and even if it did, it's hardly likely that that would mean fewer people being trafficked. They'd just be trafficked into a different industry or a different country. There's no reason to think anyone who might be vulnerable to trafficking is actually going to be helped by this type of law.

Not a comment, just a note to say that I tried to answer your question to me on Maggie McNeill's blog. I don't think I was very successful.

Your blogposts always leave my brain feeling it has had an agreeable tuneup. Really well written, thought provoking and just downright interesting!!!

Yes, it is precisely this senerio we would need to worry about because it is a huge problem. Please, instead lets do nothing because arresting prostitutes who are forced into it is working so well. If you are fucking Johns out of your home and getting paid with no pimp and no women in other beds tied up do you really think anyone is going to give a rats ass about you or your John? The Swedish model is set up to help women and CHILDREN who are forcibly being held as sex slaves!? Get a clue, here's an idea use your blog to try and raise awareness for the victims, instead of coming up with a load of nonsense and rubbish!

Highly though provoking and highly intelligent article from above.
What a barbaric, unconstitutional, idiotic and "catholic like" law
this is. The law will of course satisify some well paid, well meaning,
high moraled, idiots but will simply make the plight of most
prostitutes much worse and will not make a blind bit of difference
to the poor vunerable women, men and children who are trafficked.

Lets just demolish all the catholic churches and build brothels
in their place, legalise them and get them to pay tax, then we
get out of recession quicker and smash a failed organisation
that does 10 times more trouble than all the prostitutes in the world.
Ahhh, I love simple solutions, don't you......
